Beef/pineapple BBQ disaster

A small disaster at Maiyuu's birthday party!

We grilled beef strips on a gas-powered, tabletop hotplate. Maiyuu had prepared the beef in advance by sautéing it in pineapple. Unfortunately, he left the beef in with the pineapple too long...it turned to mush when we tried cooking it.

Maiyuu made another trip to the supermarket and bought more beef to replace the other stuff, which he reckons he can turn into hamburger meat.

He invited as guests his friend Golf, her younger sister Som, and their elder brother Bee. Jumbo the Chihuahua accompanied them as special guest.

They also brought birthday cake, with Maiyuu’s name written in icing on top, along with the number ‘35’.

‘What’s the 35 stand for?’ Maiyuu asked.

‘I didn’t know your age, so I just guessed,’ said Som.

Does Maiyuu, who turned 32 yesterday, really look so old?

Age is just a number. They should have asked you first before writing it on the cake.

Party bloopers are what make it memorable.
l hope you had a fab day....maybe l'll get some cake THIS time! lol

l have some photos, to sent you, of the ice outside my back door but my son's run off with the mouse to the PC. Don't you just hate it when that happens? ;) l will send them after Christmas via Father Christmas.

    Love to you both

    Happy Birthday, Maiyuu!

Is this the Golf who treats your home like a catering service? Nice to see that she had the good sense to bring dessert. :)

The age error made me laugh. It seems like a perfectly Thai thing to do. I enjoyed that kind of thing on my trip.

    Happy Birthday! :)

Joyce: Thank you. Yes, it is the same one. They helped Maiyuu with the cost of the replacement beef last night, so I have forgiven them their past transgressions.

Mr Numbers Man: Thank you. I suppose she made a wild guess, in the absence of any other information. Maiyuu shrugged it off. He seems unworried about how old he is getting, or what people think of his age.

Joyce: Good things are supposed to come out of us at Christmas, even if we have to squeeze them out, like strips of flour through a pasta maker.

May I wish you and Marc the Metrosexual a Merry Christmas. I am delighted to have discovered your blog...it's one of my best finds in the last 12 months.
