Battling on together

I love the feeling of my Thai guy’s head. I like to touch it, and kiss it many times a day.

Maiyuu is unimpressed.

He is not sure whether I really feel that close towards him, or if I am just being affected (ดัดจริต – tat jarit).

That is his usual reaction if I am showing him too much attention...he thinks it can’t be real.

Today I passed on the unwelcome news that the company I work for is slipping further into the red. The economic downturn finally is catching up with us.

At work, a Thai friend told me about our latest financial results. They are much worse than those for our first six months of the year, in which we bled millions of baht.

What we lost in the first six months, we are now losing every month.

I passed on the dismal news to Maiyuu.

‘So, you’ll be laid off right?’ he asked, sounding almost cheerful about the prospect.

Thais can get sulky and self-indulgent when presented with bad news.

I should be pleased if the company is doing badly, he reckons. ‘This will fit in with your plans. If you are laid off, you can go back to your home country, just as you always wanted,’ he said.

‘If you want to leave, just go,’ he has told me many times over the years, as if he doesn’t care one way or the other.

‘In all the time I have been there, they have never laid off staff,’ I said.

I am in no hurry to leave, just because I hear some bad news. We shall tough it out together.

That sounds like a defense mechanism to me...the whole thing about you leaving "like you always wanted to". That doesn't seem to make any sense since you likely could have done that at any time if you really wanted to. Sounds like he wants you to just say that you have no plan to leave. Gotta love that Asian indirect communication!

Good, take this golden opportunity to leave Maiyuu and return to England. You belong to England not Thailand. ( I am from England too ). Farang should stay in farang land not in Asia or Africa. I am sure you will be treated like a royalty by your family and friends when you return to your home country.

Maybe I should put my BF on EBay.

I would still need to find a job before I left, and that might be difficult.

Considering that you have just heard very serious news about your job/employer, if I were you I would worry more about what you wanted yourself to be, rather than who the "bf" wants- especially if you feel that working back home again would be difficult.

if you are really so strapped for cash that he is locking away your last Bt2000 every month you may want to consider saving some more money. Living that close to the edge all the time can't be very good for you.

Tha's why I started trhe savings scheme - so we would always have money there if we needed it. But its purpose became subverted (somehow, we decided to spend it on Maiyuu's teeth instead). He also made sure to hijack the funds every month.

The result is that I shall not contribute to that little box any more. I shall keep money aside myself - if he will let me get away with it.

If he wants to save for the dental work that I want him to do, he shall have to do so himself.
